Financial help for people in Bankstown

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare, today congratulated the three organisations in Bankstown which will be offered funding to deliver emergency relief and financial counselling.


The following organisations will receive funding as part of the Financial Management Program:

  • Chester Hill Neighborhood Centre, $309,629;
  • Creating Links Co-operative, $556,125; and
  • The Salvation Army Bankstown Community Welfare Centre, $335,547.

“This funding will help our local organisations provide assistance to those families in Bankstown who are really struggling,” Mr Clare said.

“Emergency Relief programs are important in providing families extra help when they need it.

“Financial counselling gives families the skills they need to balance their household budgets.”

The CEO of Creating Links, Ms Lousie Statz, said that this funding will assist her organisation to continue its Emergency Relief Program

“This funding provides stability for our Emergency Relief Program,” Ms Statz said.

“We have around 2,000 people each year coming in for assistance so the Financial Management Program allows us to give these people the support they need.”

The Financial Management Program will provide an additional $133 million over the next three years to fund services such as Emergency Relief and Commonwealth Financial Counseling.
