CANAVAN MUST INTERVENE IN NAIF
Today’s Auditor General report confirms what many have suspected – the NAIF is not working for Northern Australia.
The internal governance issues identified in the report are especially concerning given half the board are LNP donors.
The public needs to know that their political views did not impact on the conduct of their duties.
Minister Canavan must take action to restore trust in the NAIF.
Since its inception four years ago it has only spent $15.76 million out of $5 billion on projects, and not a cent yet in Queensland.
Over the same time period it’s cost taxpayers more than $15.5 million and its directors have donated more than $30,000 to the LNP.
This report must be met with serious action to reform the NAIF.
