Ms Guthrie is currently Managing Director, Agencies APAC at Google based in Singapore. She has previously held senior executive roles at Foxtel, News International and News Corporation.
She is also the former Managing Director of private equity firm Providence Equity Partners.
Ms Guthrie’s substantial experience in digital media will stand the ABC in good stead as the media industry fragments and the ways in which Australians consume their news and media continues to evolve.
Ms Guthrie will become the first female managing director in the history of the ABC.
Labor also congratulates Mark Scott on what will be 10 years as Managing Director of the ABC. Mr Scott has been a capable and impressive Managing Director and a strong and unrelenting defender of the independence of the ABC.
Under Mark Scott’s leadership the ABC began the important transition to digital media and expanded its reach across multiple media platforms.
We wish him well and thank him for his service.
