The National Party has no-one to blame but themselves for the cuts to ABC regional radio announced today.
Warren Truss, Barnaby Joyce and Nigel Scullion sat in the Cabinet room and signed off on the savage cuts to the ABC knowing that it would hurt rural and regional Australia.
Like all Australians, regional Australians believed Tony Abbott on the night before the election when he said there would be “no cuts to the ABC or SBS.”
In the bush, they voted for the National Party believing that they would ensure Tony Abbott stuck to his word.
Instead, they were abandoned by their representatives in Canberra who went quiet when now Prime Minister Turnbull announced cuts of more than $250 million from the ABC.
For LNP MPs like Warren Truss and Ewen Jones to suddenly find their voice after the savage cuts have come into force is another slap in the face to the people who put them in Parliament to stand up for the bush.
The only way to protect regional ABC radio is to vote Labor and elect a Shorten Labor Government.
If you want to protect the ABC, don’t vote for the LNP.
