Labor calls on the Abbott Government to provide support for Australia Post workers after the company today announced 1,900 jobs will be lost from its mail delivery business over the next three years.
To ensure these workers can transition to new employment, Labor calls on the Abbott Government to ensure intensive and tailored support is available as well as training and case management services where required.
This is obviously a tough and upsetting day for the affected Australia Post workers and their families.
At a time when Australia’s unemployment rate is far too high at six per cent, we need the Abbott Government to stand up for Australian workers and Australian jobs.
It’s time the Abbott Government developed a plan for Australian jobs. Where is their jobs’ plan for the future?
It is clear that there is only one job Tony Abbott is prepared to fight for – his own.
