Turnbull’s NBN Co more secretive than ever

Malcolm Turnbull is refusing to tell Australians what his second rate NBN will cost and when it will be completed.

In Opposition Malcolm Turnbull liked to say that NBN Co was “more secretive than the Kremlin.”

In fact he went so far as to introduce a private member’s bill demanding that NBN Co release its Corporate Plan.

Turnbull’s commitment to transparency did not survive the transition to Government.

During Budget Estimates hearings on Thursday last week Turnbull’s hand-picked NBN Co executives refused to tell Senators how they plan to spend the $29.5 billion entrusted to them by the taxpayers of Australia.

NBN Co CEO Bill Morrow was asked if he would release NBN Co’s latest cost, revenue and rollout forecasts to the public. Remarkably, he would not do so.

If NBN Co was more secretive than the Kremlin in 2013 then they have taken up residence in Red Square in 2015.

It is time for Malcolm Turnbull to come clean with the Australian people and tell them what his second rate network will cost and when it will be completed.
