The Abbott Government’s second Budget is proof that the NBN is rolling out slower than Malcolm Turnbull promised.
Before the election Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull promised that all Australians would have the NBN by the end of 2016. They broke that promise.
The Budget confirms half a billion dollars’ worth of funding will be pushed into future years because it is not needed yet. Why? Because Malcolm Turnbull’s second rate NBN is rolling out slower than he promised it would.
Malcolm Turnbull’s website still promises that
“The large scale rollout of any changes to the network design – such as implementing fibre to the node – would commence in mid-2014.”
It is now mid-2015, and the large scale rollout has still not started.
Malcolm Turnbull is not only leaving Australians with a second rate short sighted NBN that relies on 20th century copper instead of 21st century fibre, the rollout of it is slower than he promised.
The NBN is all about setting Australia up for the future but this is not a Budget for Australia’s future. This is a short-sighted attempt to save Tony Abbott’s job.
