In November last year, Malcolm Turnbull said that 450,000 homes and businesses would be passed with fibre by the 30th of June 2014.
Today it has been revealed that he has failed to meet this target.
NBN Co has only managed to pass 381,146 premises – almost 70,000 short of the Minister’s target.
Instead of focusing on building the NBN, the Abbott Government has been distracted by a fight they are having with Telstra to purchase their copper network so that the Government can use it as part of their second rate NBN.
The Abbott Government has already broken their election promise to provide everyone in Australia with access to 25 megabits per second by the end of 2016.
Now they have failed to meet the construction targets they set after they came to Government.
The Abbott Government needs to speed up the roll out of the NBN not break it.
This is another example of Malcolm Turnbull over-promising and under-delivering.
