Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, visited Weeroona Village in Bass Hill today to congratulate Mrs Mavis Isabelle Scobie who turns 100 on the 7th of February.
Mrs Scobie will be celebrating this remarkable occasion with five generations of her family at the Bass Hill RSL, where she looks forward to enjoying her favourite meal, satay king prawns.
Mrs Scobie moved into the local area around 20 years ago and lived in her home, independently until she moved into Weeroona Village just over 6 months ago.
Mrs Scobie and her late husband Frank raised three children, two sons and a daughter.
Mrs Scobie is described by her children as a remarkable mother, who is very dedicated to her family. Up until recently Mrs Scobie was also keen lawn bowler.
“Reaching 100 is a tremendous achievement for any person and I congratulate Mrs Scobie on this extraordinary milestone,” Mr Clare said.
“It was a privilege to be able to celebrate this happy time with Mrs Scobie, her son Frank and the team at Weeroona Village.” Mr Clare said.
Mr Clare invites residents to let his office know when they are celebrating a special 90th plus birthday or a 50th plus wedding anniversary so he can arrange for appropriate personal congratulatory messages.
“Celebrating important occasions like this with members of our community is a great privilege,” Mr Clare said.
