Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP has provided funding to the Bankstown Sports Athletics Club to purchase equipment to expand their broadcasting services. This includes 3 cameras, computer equipment, live streaming and graphics software, cabling and converters.
The Bankstown Sports Athletics Club produces broadcast level coverage of its major events and produce footage that can be used by coaches and athletes to review frame by frame footage of their performances and improve training regimes.
The Bankstown Sports Athletics Club recently broadcast its annual Albie Thomas Mile event, which is run by two-time Bankstown Olympian and Beijing 2008 finalist Youcef Abdi. The event was headlined by Commonwealth Games qualifier, Jordan Gusman at The Crest Athletics Centre in Georges Hall.
Mr Clare said “The last round of the Stronger Communities Programme helped the Bankstown Sports Athletics Club kick-start this great initiative.”
“The camera equipment purchased with this latest round of funding will be used to help coaches and local athletes see what they need to work on when training for national, state and local competitions,” Mr Clare said.
President of the Bankstown Sports Athletics Club, Mr Colin Whitbread said “The broadcasting service has made the Bankstown Sports Athletics Club a national leader in this space and this latest investment will ensure that it remains at the absolute forefront of this type of coverage and performance in Australia,” Mr Whitbread said.
The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.
In Round 3 the Blaxland Consultation Committee approved 15 projects, with $149,925 worth of grants contributed to works expected to begin early this year.
Over the past three years, the Blaxland Consultation Committee has approved a total of 37 projects, with $438,925 worth of grants being contributed to projects of local community groups.
