Grants now available to support Community Volunteers

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, is encouraging eligible not-for-profit organisations to apply for Federal Government Volunteer Grants of up to $5000.

There will be a total of $10 million available to community organisations around the country in this round of the Volunteer Grants program.

Last year 34 local organisations were successful in their applications, sharing in over $130,000 worth of funding.

Mr Clare said. “The Volunteer Grants program is a great way to directly support volunteers who selflessly give up their time to help people.

“Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help eligible not-for-profit organisations purchase much-needed equipment and contribute to volunteers’ fuel costs and training courses.

“If you work for a community organisation that is eligible for this grant, give my office a call for more information about the application process.”

Last year’s grants funded a range of projects from volunteer groups including local sports clubs, churches, and charitable organisations.

Little Wings, a not-for profit organisation based at Bankstown Airport that provides flights for seriously ill children from rural Australia to undergo treatment, successfully applied for branded wind-breakers to keep volunteers dry.

Applications for 2023 Volunteer Grants are open until Monday 11 September 2023.
