The images over the last few days have been truly horrific.
There is no justification for rocket attacks against civilians.
I join the international community in condemning the attack on worshippers at the Al Aqsa Mosque on what is meant to be one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar.
The escalation of violence, incitement of hate, destruction and loss of lives – particularly during the holy month of Ramadan – was deeply saddening and unacceptable.
I cannot, and we as a nation must not, turn a blind eye to what is going on.
As Muslims today around the world and in my community gather with family and friends to celebrate Eid, I hope for a peaceful resolution to this violence and the genuine advancement of human rights.
