The Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare, today visited Youth Off The Streets’ Bankstown Outreach Program to inspect the fit out of their new trailer.
The $6,000 fit out was jointly funded by the Stronger Communities Grants Programme and Youth Off The Streets.
Mr Clare said, “The fit out of the trailer will help the Youth Off The Streets team in Bankstown transport equipment, food and other items essential to the delivery of their Outreach program in our community.”
Rand Faied, Bankstown Outreach Manager, says the Stronger Communities Programme has helped her give more to the young people that access Bankstown Outreach.
“The trailer was lacking a few essential items that we needed to give young people the best service possible. Thanks to the Stronger Communities Programme, we are able to offer young people a better service and provide better care to those in need,” she says.
The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.
In Round 4 the Blaxland Consultation Committee convened by Jason Clare approved 17 projects, with $150,000 worth of grants contributed to works that will be completed this year.
Over the past four years, the Blaxland Consultation Committee has approved a total of 54 projects, with $588,925 worth of grants being contributed to projects of local community groups.
