Jason Clare funds boxing room upgrade at PCYC Bankstown

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP today visited PCYC Bankstown to inspect the recent upgrade to the boxing room.

The $24,000 upgrade was jointly funded by Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Fund and PCYC Bankstown.

Mr Clare said “PCYC Bankstown has been helping local kids to get fit since 1963. The room needed a big upgrade, I am glad I was able to help out.

PCYC Bankstown Club Manager, David Adams said the upgrade is much needed, and will improve the quality of their services.

“The room has seen many success stories over the years, including 19 year old Valentin Kondakov, who competed at the Commonwealth Games in 2018. To continue to encourage people to get involved, we need the facilities to cater for this and we are grateful to have received the funds and support to continue to empower local youth.”

The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.

In Round 4 the Blaxland Consultation Committee approved 17 projects, with $150,000 worth of grants contributed to works that will be completed this year.

Over the past four years, the Blaxland Consultation Committee has approved a total of 54 projects, with $588,925 worth of grants being contributed to projects of local community groups.
