Jason Clare funds upgrade to Auburn War Memorial

This year marks 100 years since the end of World War One and to mark this occasion Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP is funding the upgrade of World War One memorials in our local area.

Mr Clare today announced just over $13,500 in funding for the Cumberland RSL Sub-Branch to refurbish the Auburn War Memorial and publish a commemorative book about the young men from Auburn who served in World War One.

The refurbishment of the Auburn War Memorial includes the installation of three new flag poles and the restoration of damaged plaques and the existing dove of peace.

The publication of the book “Auburn Remembers” will also highlight the stories of the young Auburn men who enlisted to fight in the Great War.

“The upgrade to Auburn War Memorial will help the Auburn community honour the service and sacrifice of Australian service men and women – hopefully in time for Remembrance Day next month,” Mr Clare said.

“The new book will also strengthen the connection of the younger generations to local ex-service men and women who have made sacrifices for our country.”

This funding comes from Mr Clare’s Armistice Centenary Grants Program.
