Grants to support community volunteers

Community organisations in Blaxland will soon be able to apply for up to $5,000 to pay for basic necessities, such as petrol, computers and office equipment.

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP is encouraging local not-for-profit organisations in our community to apply for funding under this year’s Volunteer Grants program.

From August grants between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available to help eligible not-for-profit organisations purchase much-needed equipment and contribute to volunteers’ fuel costs and training courses.

Mr Clare said. “The Volunteer Grants program is a great way to recognise and support volunteers who selflessly give up their time to help people.

“Last year, 31 local organisations in Blaxland received funding in Volunteer Grants, totalling over $137,669,” Mr Clare said.

“If you work for a community organisation that is eligible for this grant, give my office a call for more information about the application process.”

The Volunteer Grants 2018 Application Pack we be available from the Department of Social Services’ Community Grants Hub website at https://www.communitygrants.gov.au/grants. Alternatively you can contact Mr Clare’s office on 9790 2466.
