Jason Clare funds upgrade to Bankstown PCYC

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP today announced $10,000 to upgrade the reception and youth room at the PCYC Bankstown.

The upgrade includes new automatic doors at the entrance of the club and the instillation of air-conditioning in the youth room.

This funding comes from Round 3 of Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Programme.

Mr Clare said “PCYC Bankstown has been an important part of the community since 1963, this upgrade will make the Club more inviting to the community and help to increase participation in a range of activities.”

PCYC Bankstown Club Manager, Alistair Foggo said the upgrades have also made the Club much safer.

“The automatic doors better comply with fire standards and have made it much easier for staff to monitor people as they come and go, which is really important when we have children and young people in the Club,” Mr Foggo said.

“The air-conditioning in the youth room is already a big hit, and will be very helpful next summer – giving young people in the area a place to escape the heat.”

The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.

Over the past three years, the Blaxland Consultation Committee has approved a total of 37 projects, with $438,925 worth of grants being contributed to projects of local community groups.
