New theatre equipment for Bankstown Arts Centre

Local Federal MP Jason Clare has provided funding to Bankstown Arts Centre for a new PA system, a new lighting desk, new lights and new stage curtains.

The Bankstown Arts Centre is the home of drama, music, dance and so much more in Bankstown.

It is also the home of Bankstown Poetry Slam that attracts more than 300 people to every show.

Mr Clare said “This new equipment will make the extraordinary performances that happen at Bankstown Arts Centre even better.”

The Director of Bankstown Youth Development Service, Tim Carroll said “The equipment in this room is over 30 years old, much of it being from the old Bankstown Town Hall.

“An upgrade of the equipment was much-needed and overdue so we’re excited to get new equipment for our groups to use.”

The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.

Over the past three years, the Blaxland Consultation Committee has approved a total of 37 projects, with $438,925 worth of grants being contributed to projects of local community groups.
