Federal Member for Blaxland Jason Clare visited the Yagoona Lions Football Club this week to inspect the upgrades of the O’Neill Park Change Rooms.
$20,000 of funding for this upgrade comes from Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Programme.
The City of Canterbury-Bankstown has also contributed a further $20,000 dollars towards this project.
Mr Clare said “O’Neill Park is used by the Yagoona Lions Football Club as well as other sporting clubs and school groups all year round.
“The O’Neill Park change rooms are over thirty years old. This much needed upgrade will benefit the community and meet the needs of sporting groups.
“It was great to visit O’Neill Park to see the upgrade to the change rooms, as well as meet the Yagoona Lions under 12’s team.”
Yagoona Lions Soccer Club Acting Presidents Luke Lupeski and Goran Kocev said “This grant gives our club, as well as other groups, the chance to get up to date facilities at our local ground.”
The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $2,500 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.
To be eligible for a SCP grant, all projects require matched contributions, in cash or in kind.
Mr Clare said “I encourage all sporting and community groups in our local area to apply for funding under this program.”
In the first two rounds of the program, the Blaxland Consultation Committee approved 22 projects, with $289,000 worth of grants distributed to the local community.
“Expressions of Interest for the next round of funding are now open and close on Monday August 14. For more information please contact my office on 02 9790 2466,” said Mr Clare.
