Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP hosted a morning tea for 31 local organisations that received volunteer grants. This year a total of $126,090 in funding was awarded locally to support the great work these organisations do for our community.
“The Volunteer Grants Program is a great way to directly support volunteers who selflessly give up their time to help others,” Mr Clare said.
“Between $1,000 and $5,000 will go to local groups to contribute to their volunteers’ fuel costs and purchase much-needed equipment.
“These funds will also help with the transport costs of volunteers with disabilities who are unable to drive and need to use public transport or taxis as part of their volunteering role.”
The Recreation, Sports and Aquatics Club received $5,000 to help cover fuel costs associated with providing sports, recreation, social activities for people with a disability.
The Chester Hill neighbourhood Centre and Bankstown Dementia Carers’ Group also received funding to help them purchase much needed equipment.
