Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, local historian Mr Andrew Molloy and Bankstown Councillor Ian Stromborg are working on a plan to celebrate the centenary of Milperra.
Jason is calling on local residents, schools and community groups to contribute their ideas on how our local community celebrates this special anniversary.
“Milperra turns 100 next year. It was set up as a soldiers’ settlement for troops returning home from Gallipoli and the Western Front,” Mr Clare said.
“I am working on a plan to celebrate the Centenary of Milperra. If you have some ideas please call my office or send me an email.”
Mr Stromborg, who lived in Milperra for more than twenty years, said that he is very proud of Milperra’s rich history.
“There has always been a rich sense of community here in Milperra and I know local residents will be keen to celebrate the 100th anniversary. I look forward to hearing their ideas on how we should mark the special occasion,” Mr Stromborg said.
“Next year being the centenary of the Bankstown Soldiers Settlement it would be nice to remember the people who helped to settle the five streets of the settlement which became modern day Milperra,” Mr Molloy said.
