Federal Member for Blaxland Jason Clare today announced $18,000 for new air conditioning, lighting and a shade cloth for Bankstown PCYC.
This funding comes from Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Programme.
Mr Clare said “The boxing and martial arts room gets very hot in the summer that they have had to cancel classes. This new air conditioning will fix that.”
“The shade cloth and lighting will also make it possible to run outdoor activities in the heat and at night.”
Bankstown PCYC Youth Coordinator Bilal El-Hayek said “PCYC is about creating a safe and comfortable space for our patrons, these new upgrades will increase the appeal of the PCYC clubhouse to the community no matter what the conditions.“
The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.
Last year the Blaxland Consultation Committee approved 9 projects, with $142,000 worth of grants contributed to works expected to begin early this year.
“Applications for the next round of funding are now open. For more information please contact my office on 02 9790 2466,” said Mr Clare.
