Federal Member for Blaxland Jason Clare today announced $5,000 of funding to provide new seating at the Bankstown Basketball Stadium in Condell Park.
This funding comes from Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Programme.
The new seating will replace 30 year old wooden seating that has fallen into disrepair and is no longer up to modern day standards for spectators.
The new seating will also be portable so that Bankstown Basketball can wheel it from court to court.
Bankstown Basketball has over 3,300 members, with around 400 games being played in the stadium each week.
Bankstown Basketball is also contributing about $5,000 dollars to fund the new seats.
“The Blaxland Stronger Communities Programme supports community participation in our local area.
“The new seating will help bring families to the stadium to rally support for the young members of our community.
“Applications for the next round of funding will open on15 February 2016. For more information please contact my office on 02 9790 2466,” said Mr Clare.
The Stronger Communities Programme provides grants, between $5,000 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve our local community.
Last year the Blaxland Consultation Committee approved 7 projects, with $142,000 worth of grants contributed to works expected to begin early this year.
