46 students recognised at the 2015 Blaxland Community Service Awards

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP has once again recognised the outstanding efforts of 46 local students at his seventh annual Community Service Awards Ceremony held at Bankstown Sports Club Theatre. The ceremony was attended by over 200 guests including families, school principals and teachers.

“These awards recognise students from 46 schools across Blaxland for the outstanding work they do in our local community. They have all done something special that makes them a local hero,” Mr Clare said.

The youngest recipient on the night was local year 2 student, Ananya Seth from Sefton Infants School.

“At just 7 years of age, Ananya demonstrates sensitivity and maturity beyond her years. Each week she helps with the school’s community playgroup and is involved in fundraising events for the school as well as local charities.

“Our community has a proud tradition of community service – I congratulate and thank all the students for their efforts to uphold this tradition,” Mr Clare said.

Guest speaker at the presentation ceremony was Mr Trent Engisch, General Manager of Torch Publishing and a charity fundraising champion. Mr Engisch captivated award recipients and their families with his inspiring address.

Bankstown TAP member and Bankstown Girls High School student, Serena Sabine of year 9, performed the National Anthem and an Etta James classic “At last”.

During this event, the students recognised for their admirable achievements were presented with an official certificate.
