Grants now available to support community volunteers

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, is encouraging eligible not-for-profit organisations to apply for Federal Government Volunteer Grants of up to $5000.

In 2014, 34 local organisations received $130,000 worth of funding for local volunteers. Unfortunately last year the federal government cut this program. Thankfully now it is back.

Mr Clare said. “The Volunteer Grants program is a great way to directly support volunteers who selflessly give up their time to help people.

“Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help eligible not-for-profit organisations purchase much-needed equipment and contribute to volunteers’ fuel costs and training courses.

“If you work for a community organisation that is eligible for this grant, give my office a call for more information about the application process.”

The Volunteer Grants 2015 Application Pack is available from the Department of Social Services’ website at www.dss.gov.au/grants. Alternatively you can contact Mr Clare’s office on 9790 2466.

Applications for Volunteer Grants 2015 close at 2pm  on Wednesday, 9 December 2015.
