Vietnamese Community in Australia gets its funding back

Earlier this year Tony Abbott decided to mark the 40th Anniversary of Vietnamese Settlement in Australia by surprising the Vietnamese Community in Australia (NSW Chapter) with a funding cut.

He honoured this special milestone by advising the Vietnamese Community in Australia (NSW Chapter) that they would lose over $100,000 in funding for their Money Management Service, money that was being used to help individuals and local families facing financial hardship.

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare has been fighting since February to have this funding restored and allow the Vietnamese Community in Australia (NSW Chapter) to continue the important work they do in this area.

After a long campaign Mr Clare has convinced the Abbott Government to restore funding to the Vietnamese Community in Australia (NSW Chapter).

“This is great news for local families who rely on this support from the VCA,” Mr Clare said.

“This money should never have been taken away in the first place, I am glad that the Abbott Government has listened and reversed this terrible decision.
