Bass High School Remembers

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP today attended the official opening of the Anzac Community Garden at Bass High School.

Mr Clare was joined at the service by World War II veteran, Mr Dick Payten OAM, Bass High School students, staff and members of the local community.

The Anzac Community Garden has been commissioned and funded by Mr Clare through the Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program.

“Bass High School is the only school in our community to erect a commemorative memorial in honour of this special anniversary,” Mr Clare said.

“War is nothing to be celebrated. But the people who fought and died in them deserve to be remembered. This Anzac Community Garden is going to help students and locals always remember.

Bass High School Community Engagement Officer, Ms Ingrid Winter said that this very important community project will help the school and local community commemorate the Anzac Centenary.

“The Anzac Community Garden is an important way for our students, staff and local community to pay respect to the men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation,” Ms Winter said.
