The program is aimed at exposing parliamentarians to the challenges of service life.
For Mr Clare joining the army is also a chance to get fit ahead of his upcoming Kokoda Trek.
“It is a chance to spend a week with our service men and women, to get a better appreciation of the work that they do for us and to get a step closer to understanding the service and the sacrifice of those who fought and died,” said Mr Clare.
On Anzac Day Mr Clare and Mr Morrison the Liberal MP for Cook in the Sutherland Shire will embark on their “Kokoda Mateship Trek”. They will be joined on the trail by eight young people from their electorates – four from the beaches of Cronulla and four from the streets of Bankstown.
“Going to Kokoda will help us grasp the courage, endurance, sacrifice and mateship of those who have fought and died for our country,” said Mr Clare.
