The former student of Patrician Brothers College Fairfield, who completed Year 12 in 2008, will receive $2000 and a certificate for his work in engineering and construction courses.
“This is a very high award, the vocational equivalent of the Australian Student Prize for academic achievement,” said Mr Clare.
The award recognises and rewards outstanding senior secondary students undertaking Vocational and Education Training Courses in schools. Winners are nominated by their school principal.
“Andrew’s vocational training in engineering and construction will give him a head-start in life beyond school. Skilled workers earn more, they have greater job opportunities and they have stronger job security. Skills are the key to Australia’s future,” Mr Clare said.
