“Welcoming the Babies is a free family event to celebrate new births in ourcommunity, and say ‘thank you’ to mums and dads for the important job they do,”said Mr Clare.
“Every baby will be presented with a special certificate, gift bag and native tree. There will also be entertainment for the children and useful health and community information available for parents,” Mr Clare said.
Welcoming the Babies is part of The Children’s Festival, which is being held in Paul Keating Park, outside the Bankstown Town Hall.
“I encourage young families to come along to Welcoming the Babies, and then stay for The Children’s Festival, which is a fantastic community event.
“The highlight of the day is always the parade, where children from Bankstown’s 130 different cultural backgrounds march together into Paul Keating Park, dressed in traditional costumes.
“It’s a wonderful display of our community’s rich cultural identity,” Mr Clare said.
Registration for ‘Wecloming the Babies’ is essential. Parents can register all children under the age of 2 by calling the Office of Jason Clare MP on 9790 2466.
Registrations close on Friday 18 September at 5pm.
