Students were recognised for their exceptional contributions and commitment to participating in all aspects of school life including:
• sport;
• the environment;
• fundraising for charitable causes;
• volunteering at local aged care facilities; and
• helping in the school canteen and library.
“These awards acknowledge the young people who are making a positive difference in their schools and in our wider community,” Mr Clare said.
“Our community has a proud tradition of community service – I congratulate and thank all the students for their efforts to uphold this tradition.
“The actions of one person can create a ripple through our whole community and I’m proud to represent such fine young citizens in the nation’s parliament.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Bankstown Town Hall and attended by the award recipients, their families, school principals and local community organisations.
“The presentation ceremony was also a fantastic opportunity for these inspiring young people to meet the local service clubs, community organisations and individuals who provide help to those in need and make great things happen in our community,” said Mr Clare.
During this event, the students recognised for their admirable achievements were presented with their Community Service Award and a book voucher.
