Jason Clare opens Science Centre at Birrong Boys High School

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, visited Birrong Boys High School today to officially open its newly refurbished Science Centre which were constructed as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).

Mr Clare was joined at the opening by the School’s Principal Arety Dassaklis, Head of Science Nick Papanikolaou and State MP for Auburn Barbara Perry.

Birrong Boys High School received a total of $1.1 million under the Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools program.

The newly refurbished Science Centre includes two teaching laboratories, a preparatory laboratory as well as a state of the art multimedia conference room.

“These are great new teaching and learning facilities,” Mr Clare said.

“It is great to witness firsthand the impact this Science Centre has already had on the students of Birrong Boys High School, ‘ Mr Clare said.

Mrs Dassaklis said that the new Science Centre has encouraged more of her students to take up studies in science in senior school.
