Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, today officially opened Guildford West Public School’s new multipurpose hall and school canteen which were constructed as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
Mr Clare was joined at the opening by the School’s Principal Mrs Poppy Cassimatis and the President of the P&C Ms Suzie Boyd.
Guildford West Public School received a total of $3.2 million under the program. In addition to the multipurpose hall and school canteen, the funding was also used to construct a new outdoor shade structure in the school playground.
“These are great new facilities. They will help the students to learn and allow the school to grow,” Mr Clare said.
“It is great to see our local schools are getting the facilities that our kids deserve.
Guildford West Public School Principal Mrs Poppy Cassimatis, said these renovations have been of great benefit to students and teachers.
“We are very lucky to have a new multipurpose hall which can accommodate the whole school community,” Mrs Cassimatis said.
The students celebrated the official opening of the new multipurpose hall with a special school assembly. The school choir preformed their rendition of ‘Halleluiah’ from the movie Shrek, which was followed by a powerful performance of the classic song ‘Eagle Rock’ by the school dance group.
