Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, today announced that registrations have now opened for ‘Welcoming the Babies 2011’.
This year’s event will be held at Bankstown City Paceway, on Saturday, 24 September from 9am – 10:30am as part of The Bankstown Children’s Festival.
“Having a child is one of the most important decisions that you will ever make. Welcoming the babies gives us a chance to thank mums and dads for the invaluable work they put in to raising our next generation.
“Every baby that attends will receive a special certificate and gift bag which contains useful information for mums and dads about services available to them and their babies to make parenting a little easier,” Mr Clare said.
Some of the local organisations participating in this year’s event include Karitane, Creating Links and Playgroup NSW.
Karitane’s Director of Clinical Services, Ms Deborah Nemeth said ‘Welcoming the Babies’ is a great way to introduce parents to local support services.
“It’s important for families to know where they can access help when they need it. At Karitane we offer a range of services and a 7 day parenting information line on 1300 227 464,” Ms Nemeth said.
Registration for ‘Welcoming the Babies’ is essential. All children under the age of 2 are eligible. Parents should call Jason’s office on 9790 2466 to register their child.
Registrations close on Friday 16 September at 5pm.
