More than 400 people attended the ‘Welcoming the Babies’ event, now in its third year, as part of the 2011 Bankstown Children’s Festival.

Bankstown regularly has one of the highest numbers of births for any suburb in NSW. It is estimated that there are around 2,700 babies born every year in our local community.

On the day mums and dads received gift bags, containing useful products and information on breastfeeding, the development of learning and motor skills, playgroups, community support and child water safety.

“It’s just a small way to say thank you to the new mums and dads who take on this big responsibility and give them a helping hand,” Mr Clare said.

“Having and raising a child is hard work. It’s important that parents know that there are support services available to them.”
