Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, officially opened Granville East Public School’s new multipurpose hall which was constructed as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
Mr Clare was joined at the opening by the School’s Principal Ms Louise Reynolds and the P&C Association President Mrs Mona Dib.
Granville East Public School received a total of $2.8 million under the program. In addition to the multipurpose hall the funding was also used to construct a new covered outdoor learning area and to refurbish two classrooms.
“These are great new facilities. They will help the students to learn and allow the school to grow,” Mr Clare said.
“It is great to see our local schools are getting the facilities that our kids deserve,” Mr Clare said.
Granville East Public school has already put their new multipurpose hall to good use. The school has used it for numerous performance days, sports and recreation activities and school assemblies.
The students celebrated the official opening of the multipurpose hall with a special school assembly which featured two performances from the school choir, dance troupe and a very entertaining rendition of ‘Robin Hood Men in Tights’ by Class 3T.
