Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP has recognised the outstanding efforts of school students who continue to make their school a better place to learn and our community a better place to live.
38 students were recognised for their exceptional contributions and commitment in a special presentation ceremony held at Birrong Public School Hall and attended by 200 guests including families, school principals and teachers.
One of the recipients on the night was local year 2 student, Alex Vuong from Sefton Infants School.
“Seven year old Alex was the youngest student to receive a 2011 Community Service Award. He received it for his willingness to help others and serve his community by organising a weekly fundraising ice-block stall,” Mr Clare said.
“Volunteers are what make our community tick. We should never underestimate the difference a person can make,” Mr Clare said.
“The actions of one person can create a ripple that helps the lives of many others. This is what Alex is doing,” Mr Clare said.
During this event, the students recognised for their admirable achievements were presented with an official Certificate as well as a gift voucher.
