Christ The King School in Yagoona has been awarded a $50,000 grant under the Federal Government’s National Solar Schools program.
Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare visited the school today and congratulated them on receiving the grant.
“The program helps schools install things like solar systems and rainwater tanks,” said Mr Clare.
“It is good for the environment and good for our local schools.”
Christ the King School plans to use the grant to install solar panels and energy efficient light globes.
Principal Maureen Jones said it would improve the energy efficiency of the school by adding to the water tanks which are already on the premises.
“The National Solar Schools Program will help schools like Christ the King reduce carbon emissions while saving water and conserving energy,” said Mr Clare.
