New Woolworths supermarket opens in Berala

Federal Member for Blaxland Jason Clare MP today officially opened the new Woolworths supermarket in Berala.

Mr Clare was joined at the opening by the State Member for Auburn, Barbara Perry MP.

The new supermarket is approximately 3,000 square metres in size and includes two levels of basement parking and six other speciality stores.

The first Woolworths store opened in Sydney in 1924. Since then the Woolworths brand has expanded to over 800 stores across the Australian mainland.

“This is great for local jobs – it will employ 140 people.

“It will also revitalise Berala. It has been a long time since a supermarket has been here and the local community are very excited.

“It is a great boost for our local area,” Mr Clare said.
