Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare, today condemned the NSW Liberal Government’s funding cuts to our local schools.
Barry O’Farrell will rip out $1.7 billion of funding from schools – public, Catholic and independent.
Barry O’Farrell will also cut 1,800 jobs from the education sector.
Barry O’Farrell will also take resources away from TAFE colleges – and increase TAFE fees by 9.5 per cent.
Mr Clare said “this will hurt our local schools and our local kids.”
“The Liberals are ripping funding out of our local schools.
“This is the biggest cut to education in 20 years – since the last time the Liberals were in Government in NSW.
This means:
- Larger class sizes
- Less teachers
- Less computers
- Less textbooks
- Less support staff
“This is just the start of what’s to come if Tony Abbott is elected Prime Minister.
“Tony Abbott and the Liberals have said that they will sack 35,000 teachers across Australia.
“Labor increases funding for education. The Liberals cut funding for education. It’s as simple as that.”
