Jason Clare demands NSW Government reverse education cuts after budget blunder

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP has demanded that the NSW Liberal Government reverse the education cuts that are hurting local schools and students after revelations of a billion dollar budget blunder.

It has been revealed this week that the NSW Budget announced in June this year is filled with accounting errors.

Auditor, Peter Achterstraat, has said that the deficit of $337 million announced by NSW Treasurer Mike Baird in June should in fact be a $680 million surplus.

“Barry O’Farrell has said that he would rip out $1.7 billion of funding from the education sector.

“This is the biggest cut to education in 20 years – a cut which has come on the back of budget blunders.

“Barry O’Farrell’s mistake will hurt our local schools and our local kids.

“This is just the start of what’s to come if Tony Abbott is elected Prime Minister.

“Labor increases funding for education. The Liberals cut funding for education. It’s as simple as that.”
