CLAN Volunteer of the Year Award

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP today visited the Care Leavers Australia Network (CLAN) in Bankstown to congratulate Geoff Meyers on being awarded the 2012 CLAN Volunteer of the Year Award.

Mr Clare presented the award at a special ceremony today in Bankstown for all the hard work and dedication Geoff has put into supporting the work of CLAN.

Mr Meyers, is a 75 years old “Clannie” who lives in Wollongong. He drives up to Bankstown every week to help maintain the CLAN grounds, do the odd bit of handyman work as well as vacuuming the office and museum.

Mr Clare who is the Patron of CLAN said that it was a great honour to be able to present Mr Meyers with his award.

“CLAN is an organisation that supports some of the most vulnerable members of our community,” Mr Clare said.

“Geoff’s hard work and dedication helps support CLAN and the important work that they do for their members and our local community.

“I congratulate Geoff on receiving this award and thank him for his service.”
