45 students were recognised for their exceptional contributions and commitment in a special presentation ceremony held at Bankstown and attended by 250 guests including families, school principals and teachers.

During this event, the students recognised for their admirable achievements were presented with an official Certificate and a gift voucher.

Kaela Goldsmith, an extremely talented year 3 student from Birrong Public School, gave a very special performance on the night of her rendition of ‘Skinny Love’ by Birdy.

Six local volunteers were also awarded a National Volunteer Award in recognition of their ongoing commitment to community service.

“Volunteers are what make our community tick. We should never underestimate the difference one person can make,” Mr Clare said.

“The actions of one person can create a ripple that helps the lives of many others.

National Volunteers recognised include:

  • Matthew Laupepa – Australian Air League (Riverwood Squadron)
  • Barbara Gill – NSW Cancer Council
  • Ron Thatcher – NSW Cancer Council
  • Geoff Meyers – Care Leavers Australia Network
