Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, today congratulated Gillawarna Village residents Mrs Elise Lewis and Mrs Dulcie Bryant on their 100th birthdays.
Mrs Bryant, who celebrates her birthday today and Mrs Lewis who will be celebrating this important milestone on Monday were both thrilled to receive warm wishes, flowers, cards and cake.
The staff at Gillawarna Village served a special afternoon tea to mark the occasion.
“Both Mrs Lewis and Mrs Bryan are inspiring women who have contributed a great deal to our community.
“It was a privilege to be able to celebrate this happy time with them and the staff at Gillawarna Village.” Mr Clare said.
Both Mrs Bryant and Mrs Lewis have close knit, loving families, who have come from far and wide to celebrate their 100th birthdays.
“It is marvellous to have Jason visit us today and to receive a message from the Queen – well that is just once in a lifetime,” Mrs Bryant said.
Jason Clare’s electorate office arranged for a letter of congratulations to be sent to Ms Lewis and Ms Bryan from Her Majesty the Queen.
Mr Clare invites residents to let his office know when they are celebrating a special 90th plus birthday or a 50th plus wedding anniversary so he can arrange for appropriate personal congratulatory messages from the Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
“Celebrating important occasions like this with members of our community is a great privilege,” Mr Clare said.
