Up to $50,000 for local sporting groups

Jason Clare MP, Federal Member for Blaxland, today announced that applications are now open for the Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership Grants Program.

Mr Clare was joined at the announcement by representatives from Bankstown City Football Club.

The Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership Program provides grants to sporting organisations of between $5,000 and $50,000 to help sporting groups from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to participate in sport within their local community.

“Our local community is very multicultural – 43 per cent of people in our community come from countries where English is not the main language,” Mr Clare said.

“Participation in sport and sporting groups helps to build bridges between people from all different backgrounds. It is a great way for people to make friends and build strong community links.

Not-for-profit, incorporated community organisations, sporting groups and educational institutions are eligible for funding through the Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership Program.

“I encourage all community and sporting groups in our local community to apply for funding under this program.

Applications are now open for the next round of Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership program. Applications close on 2 May 2013 and successful applicants will be announced in July 2013.
