“The biggest thing in this year’s budget is the setting up of DisabilityCare Australia.” Mr Clare said.

“The Labor Party set up Medicare. This is just as big and just as important as Medicare.

“This will help half a million Australians with disabilities, and their families. It will also help people who develop disabilities in the future.

“This could mean the difference between getting the right wheelchair now or waiting three years in a wheelchair that doesn’t fit.

“Or the difference between a shower every day, or only once a week.

“This is a massive reform which will make a difference in our community” Mr Clare said.

The CEO of Bankstown Recreation, Sports and Athletic Club, Jenny Bombardieri, has welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement with open arms.

“DisabilityCare is going to change the lives of people living with a disability and thier carers,” Ms Bombardieri said.

“This is the first time a Government has established such a comprehensive support program.

“The best part of this program is that it gives choice and control to people living with a disability and their carers in regards to the services they receive.

“Bankstown Recreation, Sports and Athletic Club and its members are extremely excited about the establishment of DisabilityCare by the Federal Government.” Ms Bombardieri.
