Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP, today visited Sacred Heart Primary School in Villawood to participate in a Sing & Grow music session.
The Sing & Grow program is funded by the Federal Government and helps disadvantaged young families with children aged from 0 – 4years. Groups are run weekly by experienced music therapists who work with parents on strengthening family relationships and helping them support their children’s development.
“The Sing & Grow program is all about giving young families the support they need.
“The music therapy sessions help young mums and dads to support their children’s development in the early years of life,” Mr Clare said.
Marie, a parent who attends Sing & Grow with her daughter, Isobelle at Sacred Heart Primary School said, “We learn so much and have fun coming to Sing & Grow. It’s not just for Isobelle, but for me too. At night time we used to watch the news on TV, now instead we listen to the Sing & Grow CD together as a family. We have gained so much from this program and really need it to continue.”
Mr Clare was also joined at the music session by Allison Fuller who is the Learning and Development Manager for Sing & Grow NSW.
