Federal Labor will fund the Bankstown City Council to install the new spectator seating, increasing capacity and providing undercover shelter.

This grant forms part of the Rudd Labor Government’s $15 million Building Multicultural Communities Program which will strengthen social cohesion and promote inclusions in diverse communities.

“Sport helps to break down barriers in our community,” Mr Clare said.

“This will give our local community the opportunity to come down to the park and watch a game, rain, hail or shine.

Khal Asfour, Mayor of Bankstown said this is great news for Bankstown and particularly the sporting organisations and hundreds of people who use Jensen Oval.

“This funding can now be combined with the $400,000 Council allocated in its budget, to construct a new grandstand facility,” Mayor Asfour said.

Funding for this project is already included in the budget.
