Bankstown will lose Disability Care Services

Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP said today he was very concerned that Bankstown will lose Disability Care services.

In August this year the former Federal Labor Government announced that Bankstown will be one of the first roll-out locations in NSW to get Disability Care.

The Abbott Liberal Government has now refused to honour this commitment.

“This is a real worry. Bankstown was selected because it has around 4,500 local people with a disability and 1,800 carers – making it the fourth highest in the state.

“Now it looks like the Liberals are going to dud people with disabilities in Bankstown.

“This is what the Liberals always do. Last time they won government in 1996 they shut the Australian Taxation Office in Bankstown, the Immigration Department Office and they closed the Hearing Australia service.

“Now it looks like they are up to their old tricks again.

“It looks like they are going to cancel the half a million dollars the former Labor Government gave Bankstown for CCTV cameras, and now it looks like we are going to lose Disability Care for the people in our local area as well,” Mr Clare said.
