Coalition cuts to Schoolkids Bonus hurt Bankstown families

The Abbott Government has introduced legislation to scrap the Schoolkids Bonus, a cut that will hurt more than 14,800 families in Bankstown.

The Schoolkids Bonus pays $410 for each child in primary school and $820 for each child in secondary school.

“If you have two kids at school you will now be up to $1,640 worse off a year. Over the time your children are at school you will miss out on $15,000,” Mr Clare said.

“This is a ruthless cut from a Government that clearly doesn’t care about local families in Bankstown.

“This payment helps local families pay for uniforms, books, school excursions, stationery, and other costs like music lessons and sports registration fees.

“The Schoolkids Bonus is a big help to over 14,800 local families in Bankstown. Every one of these local families will be worse off if the Schoolkids Bonus is scrapped.”
